FFCA Forum Contract

FFCA Forum Contract

By contributing on the FFCA Forums, you agree to the following terms:

  • I promise to abide by the rules listed here.
  • I promise not to "troll". This means not to make instigate and/or fuel arguments that ultimately have no purpose.
  • If I disagree to another member's post, I must provide a rational, logical argument, rather than blatant disagreement.
  • If you believe someone is in violation of this contract or the forum rules, send me (Slayer_of_1) a Private Message.
Now, If you contribute to these forums AND feel like contributing more of your logic/opinions by becoming a Forum Senator or a Forum Representative, you must understand the rules of the system.

Forum Senators

If you wish to become a forum senator, you must have:

  • 1+ year of gameplay experience. This means having 1 year between the day of application. and enlistment date. This can be double checked by looking at your CA player Profile.
  • Made an application here.
Forum Representatives

If you wish to become a forum representative, you must have:

  • More than 750 posts on the official CA forums. This shows you have experience with making collaborations in an online environment.
  • Made an application here.
IMPORTANT: In the beginning, these applications will be accepted once we do a brief background check on your post quality (as to rule out forum grievances like trolling), and enlistment date (if applicable). Also note that exceptions can be made to these rules at any time, especially seeing as post quality > post quantity.

Also note that it is crucial for Representatives to give credit where credit is due; if someone had the idea before you, state that it was their idea. Violation of this rule has strict consequences, namely, in the form of a 7 day ban.

Thanks for joining the FFCA forums! We hope you enjoy collaborating here to make Combat Arms the best game it could be! Smile

I believe these standards to be somewhat high. A history of trolling doesn't matter if this person learned his lesson, and it shows in his recent posts, eh?

As for 1+ year of gameplay experience, isn't that a bit too much to ask for? I'd lower it to 3 months. :X

I dunno though. Let's see what everyone else has to say.

I've been playing on 3 account. MFarhan, Sklpper and Valkerie89. Earliest enlistment date is 09/09/08. Played from time to time although my kdr failed miserably due to slow PC Razz

Forum post count is at 1543.

I'm eligible for Senator but since I'm not from around here, I'm not sure what a senator is lol!

Basically, the senator and representative will function the same, but I think there will be more senators (based on gameplay) than reps (based on forum posts). This is not a 100% accurate estimation, though....

I know what you're saying.

I think representatives should have more responsibilities and more power than the common senator though. Or perhaps we should rename the senator thing, since it's weird to see senators in such abundance.

Meh.

For representatives, I think if they took over for the job I was talking about in that other thread for updating the Nexon forums with what FFCA is doing. I think it'd be better if there were MULTIPLE PEOPLE doing this job rather than a single person. It gives the Nexon forum community the impression that FFCA is run by a democracy rather than "Hazarath's tyrannical fist of iron". Rolling Eyes

That's just one of my suggestions for what representatives will have over senators Surprised

I seriously like the idea of "representatives" actually representing on the CA forums. Plus, with their post count and relatively higher forum fame, can assure people that the FFCA is something good to join.

Great idea, Haz! Smile

For what? If it was for president, I agree. For a seat in senate or the House, then no. I think people should be allowed to apply for that, and we can simply judge.

The president has far less power than you'd expect, mrfarhan. His veto power(Subsequently can be countered by another veto from senate) is the bigger power right now he/she can possess Surprised

Honestly peoples, just a quick note:

1 year of gameplay is a VERY fair standard; that's the least amount of time you could have played to even realized the severe downfall of this game in the first place. In the last 3 months, your impression on the game will be mainly: ROFLSAUCE SPECS ARE SO KEWL AND NOT OP AT ALL HAZ IS SUCH A NOOB FOR TRYING TO NERF THEM ROFLLMAO DSR-1 IS UNDERPOWERED CUZ OF TPG-1

Not even joking there.

Thanks..... I tried to find the best enlistment length. If I set it to only closed beta veterans, that would be very unfair.

The main concern here is FINDING players that have played for a year D:

I don't really like the thought of a House consisting of 15 people.

Would I suggest a requirement for ambassadors?

They must have at least 50 GOOD posts on these forums, while being good at conveying thoughts and ideas to a completely different medium.

I honestly dislike the concept of scourging through a users to posts to find 50 "good posts". I'll be more than willing to appoint anyone to the ambassador seat if they simply demonstrate internet etiquette, and sensibility when communicating on forums. Also, a multi-forum background helps. Razz

alright look, now that we have a mission statement we either need to:
A) well define what a president does according to the mission statement.
B) change up the current mission statement.
C) get rid of the position of president.

I'm leaning towards "C".

Why? People will be against the FFCA, so long as they think of only one person when thinking of "FFCA".

As a democratic movement to improve a video game, and not an actual political system, I can see the FFCA functioning seamlessly without a president.

Unless, at some point in the future, the FFCA needs a strong leader, I'll stick to the concept of removing the concept of a president.

Thoughts? Opinions? Objections?

Re: FFCA Forum Contract

Post by Hazarath on Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:08 am

Bravo.

You guys came to this conclusion rather well. Since FFCA is operating well so far, removal of the president is probably a good thing.

HOWEVER, as you said, there may be times when a leader IS needed. So let's simply keep the position as president on the contract as a sort of backup plan if FFCA ever is that desperate. But we must also emphasize at the same time how UNNECESSARY a president is for as long as FFCA maintains a strong community free of flaming or bogging down the opinions of others. i.e. say FFCA corrupts from within after a year, and the entire senate voices their opinions instead of the opinions of the citizens. At such times of desolation, a president is needed to correct the senate through the veto process I talked to you about, slayer.

As of now, senates debating with each other can do more than just substitute what a president can do.

I imagine that FFCA has its enemies, if you go on Nexon forums, you can see many people that despise FFCA. Some despise it because we will nerf their OP weaponry and therefore lower their k/dr by degrading their weapons down to be on par with other weapons. Some despise FFCA because I'm in it, and I have a huge hate group stalking around my posts trying to dishearten my efforts. Enemies of FFCA will always be around trying to bring us down and belittle our achievements.

Sometimes, these enemies may succeed. They may join forces and as one(A sort of anti-FFCA), try to take us down by removing our voice. By persuading Nexon that FFCA isn't what they say they are. Some deem FFCA to be a joining of narrow-minded individuals trying to force our views on the game down everyone else's throat. If our enemies get to Nexon before we do, then FFCA will be lost forever.

There WILL be people that join FFCA and actively participate in debates NOT for bettering the game, but for their own self benefit. Some will try to push for say, an entire shotgun class buff so that they're all 100% OHK up to 20 meters like in open beta, or making the L96A1 a DSR-1 Tactical for sergeants. From this, corruption will arise within FFCA due to hearts that harbor malicious intent.

And in such times of grief, a president will be needed to not only get everyone's act together, but to boost morale and get FFCA as a whole to show Nexon, opponents of FFCA, and those they propagandized their lies to that FFCA is built on top of good intentions and our mission is that of bettering the game.

In short, I'm all for the removal of president, but we need to remember that someday, we MAY need a president if FFCA ever loses its voice with Nexon through means of sabotage(Some people don't want to see us succeed whether it's preservation of their pride or greed.) or FFCA literally falling apart because of some error on our part.

Okay, I'm removing it indefinitely. I'll also Copy+ paste some of what Haz said into the contract, as to clarify that at some time, the position of president may need to be implemented.

Re: FFCA Forum Contract

To help clarify HOW the position of president will EVER pop up again:

If a minimum of 50% of FFCA citizens band together and say they want a president because the senate and the House, the ambassadors, etc. aren't accurately depicting what the citizens want in Combat Arms, then they merely need to get 50% of the number of FFCA citizens to sign a petition for a president.

i.e. Say 2 years from now, FFCA has completely gone to hell. Slayer of 1 quit, I quit, mrfarhan quit, Zirrick quit. What replaces us are the more flammatory, aggressive members of the CA forums. They ignore the pleas and cries of citizens saying they want say, a grenade launcher turret Nexon came out with then, to be nerfed; but the corrupt senate tries to push for a buff, because they are all specialists that want an advantage to themselves and above all: Free kills without trying.

They have lost sight of what FFCA truly stood for in its beginnings. They do not represent what the FFCA mission is. They are demonic, twisted versions of what FFCA SHOULD be about, which is serving the people, the citizens. But instead, they only serve themselves.

Say a citizen reads through the FFCA forum contract, and sees that in fine print, it says that if 50% of the citizens' population bands together and petitions for a president, a president will then be elected. EVEN if the senate, the House, the ambassadors, etc., all deny any existence of a president, the president him/herself has the power to represent FFCA. It doesn't matter what the other groups say because the president outranks that of the senate, the House, everything.

This president is granted administrator status of the site upon being chosen(We'll have to somehow make a sort of switch that turns on the seat of president.... Say if we get 50% of FFCA citizens to click a button that says: I elect _________ to be president! Then whoever's name fills that blank becomes president. You see, if people enter in different names, this won't work. It has to be 50% of citizen population selecting the SAME NAME to be there.). This is a right NO ONE can take away. This has to be a right reserves ONLY for citizens! And protected by this forum contract! Please add this in slayer.
